Splash Pad and a picnic

So, I have to admit that before last month I had no idea what a "splashpad" was. I mean, I've seen kids play at Olympic park in Atlanta, and at Market Square here in Knoxville, but splashpads are totally different. With all that being said.....my sister introduced me to this public park adventure last month and I became instantly hooked! Isaiah loves it and it is much easier than taking him to a swimming pool.

Keith and I decided that we really needed to leave our couch potato days behind us, and get out more, so we planned a day at the park. We got up Saturday morning, ate breakfast, got ready and headed to the park...picnic and all. Isaiah had a blast....so did Keith....and I got to enjoy watching my boys play!

4th of July Fun!

We really enjoyed our 4th this year! We spent the morning trying to get things done around the house before heading to my parents. We had some thunderstorms that came through mid afternoon, so when we got there the power was out. We played our regular game of Farkle, and by the last few rolls of the dice the power came back on. We finished getting everything ready for the grill, and the cooking began. We feasted on hot dogs and hamburgers....and all the sides that come with a cookout....and when we were done we took Isaiah out to play in the yard. We packed up in my parents new minivan...yes, they bought a minivan just to carry the grand kids around...and off to the fireworks we went. Isaiah LOVED the fireworks! The show was just shy of thirty minutes, and he watched the whole time. We celebrated spending time with family, and of course our freedom!

This was hilarious! We watched him for several minutes...he was looking through the balloon.

                                                Watching fireworks with Grammy!

He thought he could touch the fireworks.

Spending time at Grammy and Pop-paws

Isaiah and I recently spent some time at my parents, while Keith took our graduating seniors on a trip. It was during the week, so my mom was at work during the day, but we were able to spend some quality time with my dad. My parents have a really nice park near their house, so we packed in the car and headed out for some morning fun before it got too hot. We spent the first part of the morning playing on the slides and swings, and finished up walking around the pond feeding the ducks and geese. Isaiah also had his first ride with pop-paw on the riding mower. They went around the house several times before I took him off. He loved it!!! In fact, he loved it so much he screamed for ten minutes wanting back on! Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Easter egg hunts and the Easter Bunny

I know...I know...you're thinking Easter was like almost a year ago...we've learned by now I stink at this, but...
The Saturday before Easter our church had its annual spring festival, which includes a huge Easter egg hunt for a lot of different age groups. We thought it would be fun for Isaiah because he is such a good age to discover new things. The festival is such a big event for our church family, so we are always excited to go and participate, but this year was more special.
My parents decided to come so they could watch his first egg hunt. As the crowd grew, more and more kids crowded around with their colorful baskets....empty....but soon to be full. Thankfully it is organized in age groups so the little ones don't get trampled, so we were able to just enjoy watching his little steps from egg to egg. He figured the whole concept out pretty quickly. We then enjoyed Buddy's bar-b-que before taking our tired little guy home.
Easter Sunday rolled around quickly, and Isaiah received his first official Easter basket from the Easter bunny. He got several movies, a stuffed music giraffe, book, and some yummy healthy snacks...no candy yet! We then went to church with the most handsome little guy in the cutest suit ever! We learned what Easter is really about, and had a great day of worship. We then headed to mom and dads where we cooked out and had some good family time. They gave Isaiah a huge ball that he absolutely loves! It was such a nice day full of memories and laughs.

Before the crowd got too big!

Mom and dad got him the ball....he loves it!
